Anurag Kashyap says Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan do films for free.

Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap praised Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan for being cost conscious while making their films. The filmmaker revealed the three Khans do not charge fees for their films. Instead, they make their earning from backend income, such as profit sharing ratio or selling of rights of the film. The Bad Cop star shared the insight while talking about the rising entourage costs in the film industry.

“Main bade actors ke saath kaam nahi karta, lekin sabse jyada cost conscious industry mein humare teen bade stars hai- Shah Rukh, Salman aur Aamir. Teeno fees nahi lete film mein. Wo har film backend lete hai. Unki koi film costly nahi hoti (I don’t work with big actors. But the most cost conscious stars in the industry today are the three Khans. Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir do not charge a fees. Instead, they earn films from the backend earnings. Their films are not expensive),” Anurag told Bollywood Bubble.

Shah Rukh delivered three hits in 2023 — Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. Aamir’s last release, Laal Singh Chaddha also recorded a decent opening, despite the calls for boycott that impacted the film’s box office. Salman’s last film Tiger 3 also

He added that he also forgoes a fee if he believes in a film and wants it to be made well. “A lot of money goes into useless things. Actors’ fees are dictated by industry standards. The films that I make, I make them in a set and limited budget. Most of the times, I forfeit my fee as well. I have made 60% of the films in my career with zero fees. Biggest example is Gangs of Wasseypur. My fees was zero because I didn’t want to replace actors with big stars,” he added.

Lately, the film industry has been discussing the rising cost of making a film, the actors’ fees and the amount spent on their entourages to meet their demands. Anurag, in the same interview, said that the blame goes on agencies place demands on behalf of the stars and producer who succumb to the needs.
