Actress Madalsa Sharma, who essays the role of Kavya in Star Plus show Anupama, has opened up on her experience of casting couch in the entertainment field. Madalsa is the daughter of Hindi and Gujarati film actress Sheela Sharma and is married to Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mahaakshay Chakraborty.
Regarding her casting couch experience, Madalsa said that it is not gender specific and men and women are equally at risk. “People may try to impress you but being impressed or not are two different things. Personally, what do I do whenever I feel uncomfortable in someone’s presence or during a meeting? Just get up And go through that door. No one is going to stop me or lock the door and let me go anywhere. So, it’s always been my personal choice. I’m here as an actor and I’m ready to do whatever is – to perform and show to the world what I am made of and how talented I am. As long as it lasts, it is my job. Also, good or bad, bad or good, you must know the situation So, that’s what I’ve been doing all my life,” Madalsa shared in an interview with ETimes.
Recently, the Anupama storyline also introduced a track in which one of the characters named Kinjal (Nidhi Shah) is put in a situation where her boss at workplace proposes her sexually. The handling of the entire #MeToo episode on the part of the makers was very sensitive and was appreciated for bringing such a contemporary issue to the show.
Madalsa’s show Anupama airs on Star Plus at 10 pm.
