Anubhav Sinha is gearing up for his next series IC 184: The Kandahar Hijack. He was attending promotion event with Dia Mirza and Vijay Varma.

Ace director Anubhav Sinha is gearing up for his next series IC 184: The Kandahar Hijack. The teaser has already left fans excited. Well, amid this a video has surfaced from the promotion event of his upcoming series. He was seen attending it with Dia Mirza and Vijay Varma. What grabbed attention was his seeking permission from Dia Mirza before keeping his hand on her shoulder. Netizens are hailing him as a true gentleman.

In the video, shared by Viral Bhayani, we can see Anubhav Sinha, Dia Mirza and Vijay Varma posing for the camera. When suddenly Anubhav asked Dia can he keep his hand on her shoulder. On this she replied smiling, “Aap rakh sakte ho”. This left Vijay Varma laughing and also paps. As soon as the video was surfaced, fans reacted. They called him gentleman.

IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack series is based on the 1999 hijack of an Indian Airlines Flight IC 814. The key cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Verma, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur and Patralekhaa. The mini-series will also be the OTT debut of director Anubhav Sinha, renowned for his gritty dramas like Mulk, Thappad, Article 17 and Bheed. This thriller series is set to release on Netflix India this month.

The teaser, released on Netflix’s social media account today, opens with a group of Indian passengers preparing to depart from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. They are supposed to head towards Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Vijay Varma, portraying pilot Sharan Dev, greets the passengers, shares the general information and instructions and asks them to sit back and relax. Suddenly, five masked militants put him at gunpoint, assaulted the passengers on board and hijacked the flight.

The teaser also shows that in New Delhi, Indian government officials – played by Pankaj Kapur, Dia Mirza, Manoj Pahwa and Naseeruddin Shah quickly spring into action. The passengers face an even greater threat as the plane is flown to Kandahar, Afghanistan, which was then, reportedly under Taliban’s control.

As for the true incident that the upcoming series is based on, in 1999, an Indian aircraft, IC 814, was reportedly hijacked by five terrorists on December 24, 1999, just 40 minutes after taking off from Kathmandu. The plane carrying about 180 passengers, was held hostage for about eight days. They were made to travel from Kathmandu to Amritsar and then to Lahore. After refuelling in Lahore, it flew to Dubai and finally to Taliban-controlled Kandahar.
