Another Spike despite Lower Testing | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: The number of Covid-19 cases in the city and district saw a spike on Monday with 87 new cases being reported. The cases were reported from 2,355 tests conducted during the 24 hours ending on Tuesday evening. On Monday, 59 cases were reported in the city and district. The rise took place on Tuesday despite lower testing. The number of new cases being reported went up in both the city and district.
The general trend has been towards a decline despite such minor spikes from time to time. This month such spikes were witnessed on February 4 and February 17 too. Officials have maintained that these are isolated spikes and one needs to monitor the graph over a longer period. As many as 198 persons were discharged on Tuesday and two others were declared dead due to Covid-19. This left 1,169 live cases out of which 151 are hospitalised. The condition of 12 persons on ventilators and BIPAP was serious. The total death toll now stands at 739 even as 1,31,555 have been discharged. tnn
