Train Accident: An anonymous letter said that the country could witness another heart-wrenching rail accident like the Balasore train accident. Recently, the Indian Railways received a letter warning of a “Balasore-like train tragedy” on the “Hyderabad-Delhi-Hyderabad” route. According to official sources, the letter dated June 30 was sent to the South Central Railway (SCR) and addressed to the Divisional Railway Manager of Secunderabad division.

Next week “train tragedy like Balasore”.

According to sources, the anonymous letter reportedly mentioned the possibility of a “Balasore-like train tragedy” on the “Hyderabad-Delhi-Hyderabad” route next week. Sources said the letter was received by post last week.

SCR officials informed the Telangana Police about the letter. SCR sources said, “…the letter was received by post last week and handed over to state intelligence for further action.”

Earlier on June 2, 280 people were killed and over 1,000 were injured when three trains collided in Odisha’s Balasore district. The accident is one of India’s worst rail accidents in nearly three decades.

About a month after the gruesome train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district, Archana Joshi, General Manager of South Eastern Railway, has been removed from her post. Indian Railways said in a statement that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Mishra as the new General Manager of South Eastern Railway.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held a meeting

Earlier on June 20, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held a meeting with District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police and State Government officials in Balasore. The minister announced Rs 1 crore from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development (LAD) Fund and Rs 1 crore from the Railway Fund for the development of Bahanaga village and the hospital there.
