Announcement to open educational institutions in September, but what is the roadmap? business in bangladesh

The Education Minister has said that educational institutions will open in September and examinations will be held in November. But everything depends on the status of coronavirus. But the roadmap for this work is not clear.

The question is, will the educational institutions remain closed for months if the corona infection does not reduce? Education Minister Dr. Dipumani said, this time the test will not be autopass. And that exam can be in November. And educational institutions can be opened in September. Earlier coroner vaccination would be given to teachers and staff and students aged 18 years and above.

Professor Shahedul Khabir Choudhary, Director, Department of Secondary and Higher Education said, “Our plan has been made keeping in mind two things. Somehow if the corona situation becomes normal. And if you have to open it in Corona, that’s different. However, we feel that if the infection is not less than five percent, then it will not be right to open educational institutions.

He said that it has been decided to conduct SSC and HSC examinations in November. Earlier, educational institutions would be opened at the end of September. This is not for taking classes, but for preparing for that exam. If successful, universities and other educational institutions including secondary and higher secondary will be opened. Prior to this 100% vaccination would be provided to teachers, staff and students (18 years of age or above).

However, taking another decision on Thursday, the government said that even if all the candidates are below 18 years of age, they will be vaccinated. Vaccination is being done on priority basis to teachers, staff and students in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Health. However, in the meantime, almost all the teachers of government educational institutions and two lakh 7 thousand teachers and employees of private educational institutions have been vaccinated, the education minister said.

The director of the department said, “We have planned to open educational institutions in Corona and take the examination according to the guidelines of UNICEF. The implementation work will start 15 days before the inauguration. Cleanliness, social distance, how far the students will sit, masks are all fixed. At the same time, work based on the assignment of students has also started.

But this plan or roadmap is not clear. Because the Ministry of Education is only thinking about the examination. But what will happen to the exam if they don’t learn? Former Director of the Institute of Education and Research, Prof. Siddiqur Rahman said, ‘The corona had decreased in July-August last year, but according to the rules of hygiene, the test could be taken. Classes can be conducted after planning. Don’t do too much now. That’s why I am not in favor of opening educational institutions now. But the question is that if there is no corona then our educational institution will not open? With autopass? Those who were given autopass last year, have they learned what they need? There is no use in Autopass without being taught the basics.

“Educational institutions have been closed since March 16 last year. We have only heard about the exams but have not seen any concern or plan about what will happen to the study. What will happen to the exam without teaching? We don’t have a roadmap or timeline for this. They are trying sincerely. But I feel lack of skill or knowledge to do it.

According to him, the class examination could have been conducted while maintaining distance, taking several shifts in compliance with the hygiene rules. Planning was needed. But it did not happen. There is no infrastructure for online or module based education system. Half the students do not have a device. And it is not possible to skip the class completely. It has special significance.
