Picking up after the explosive events of season one, season two of The Morning Show sees the two main characters, Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) deal with their own crisis, one professional and the other emotional. Through its various characters, the show also tries to raise the current issues of homophobia, systemic racism, sexual harassment and ageism. But, the biggest drawback of the show is the pace of progress of the story. It takes a while to get into the groove, but once it’s done, there’s no looking back. In addition to Aniston and Witherspoon, the cast includes Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Hasan Minhaj, Holland Taylor and Julianna Margulies.

Scene from a Marriage, starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, is said to be a “reimagining” of the 1973 Swedish miniseries of the same name by writer-director Ingmar Bergman. The HBO series, streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar in India, re-examines the original portrayal of “love, hate, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce” through the perspective of an American couple. The first episode of the five-part series has a strong script and establishes that the series is going to be a fascinating watch.

It is backed by an ensemble cast including actors Abhishek Banerjee, Zoya Hussain, Kunal Kapoor, Nikhil Dwivedi, Palomi, Rinku Rajguru and Deljad Hiwale. Though the film leaves its mark, it is worked in bits and parts.

The third season of Sex Education released on Netflix on Friday. The series revolves around Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), an awkward, introverted teenager who discovers that he can help his peers with their sex-related issues. The show tackles themes of gender identity, adolescent sexuality and middle age crises without preaching. Indian Express’ Ekta Malik suggests, “Watch this show and be impressed by this beautiful series and a stellar third season. Not everything is ha-ha funny, but almost everything touches your heart.”

M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural thriller Old is an adaptation of Frederick Peters and Pierre Oscar Levy’s graphic novel Sandcastle. The film tells the story of the misadventures of two families who land on a mysterious beach where they grow up and suddenly realize that there is only one day left in their lives. Night Shyamalan, who has given us some good horror movies, tries to do it once again but is not entirely successful. In the opinion of The Indian Express’ Shalini Langer, “By the time the film comes to its point, takes a pause and becomes almost beautiful, it is too little, too late.”
