Andy Flower appointed advisor to Afghanistan for T20 World Cup

Former Zimbabwe captain and England coach Andy Flower has been appointed as an advisor to the Afghanistan national team for the T20 World Cup.

Former Zimbabwe captain and England coach Andy Flower has been named AfghanistanNational Team Advisor for T20 World Cup, Afghanistan Cricket Board said. Flower was instrumental in helping England win the T20 World Cup in 2010 during his tenure between 2009 and 2014.

“We are delighted that Andy has joined the ACB. Andy has worked with many of our players across various franchises and his vast experience will be very beneficial and useful in helping the team in the World Cup.”

Flower has represented Zimbabwe in 63 Tests and 213 ODIs before moving on to coaching. He has worked with England and also done several coaching stints in various franchises and T20 leagues across the world including IPL, CPL, PSL and The Hundred.

The Afghanistan team left for Qatar from Kabul on 6 October. Mohammad Nabi, who captained the Afghanistan team in the ICC event, said, “The team has started training in Qatar to keep pace with the weather. They are waiting for UAE visa and everyone is ready for the World Cup.”
