android: Android phones may soon come preloaded with Truecaller app in these countries – Times of India

Sweden-headquartered Truecaller has partnered with global Android smartphone makers to preload the app on phones in select markets. This means that the Truecaller app will be pre-installed on Android phones from the factory. However, consumers will be free to exercise their choice of using the app and there will be no guarantee of a new active user from start, the company says.
List of countries where the app will come preloaded with new phones includes India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Latin America. Truecaller, however, did not reveal the name of smartphone manufacturers whose device will come with the app.
In a press release, Truecaller said that it aims to cover 100 million new Android devices over the next two years. “Truecaller is platform agnostic and aims to work with as many smartphone makers as possible in future,” it added.
The company said that the latest move is in line with Truecaller’s global ambitions to make the app widely available, and also aims to make it easier to use for millions of new users.
Truecaller has more than 220 million active users in India. During the last two years, the app’s market penetration has grown from 35 per cent to almost 50 per cent.
Number of smartphone users in the country is over 450 million. Truecaller says in a press release that this is expected to grow to over 700 million smartphone users in the coming three years.
