Pixel #TeamPixel said, “SMS Satellite will be added to Android, and it will require appropriate hardware, it’s up to the manufacturer, then Pixel and Galaxy will be among the first to get it.”

The release of the final and stable version of Android 14 is now very close, with an estimated two to three weeks left for its launch. However, the full scope of satellite support in smartphones remains uncertain.

Apple already supports Emergency SOS via satellite feature. With the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models, users can use Emergency SOS via Satellite to text emergency services when they are out of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

The facility has proved its life-saving capability by helping rescue people stranded in remote areas. Emergency SOS via satellite feature has helped save two lives in a serious car accident in the US.

According to MacRumors, the incident occurred on the Angeles Forest Highway in the Angeles National Forest in the US state of California, in which a vehicle skidded off the side of a mountain and plunged into a remote canyon about 300 feet away.

The iPhone 14 in the car detected the accident and sent information to rescuers using Emergency SOS via satellite as there was no cellular signal.
