“The fire broke out in Tirumala forest area around 2:30 pm on Tuesday. The fire spread rapidly in the forest area near Elephant Arch on First Ghat Road. The staff of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Forest Department reached the spot and inspected the forest cover of Tirumala. Range officer Prabhakar Reddy said, it took about 8 hours to bring the fire under control.

Reddy said it could be the work of smugglers for road visibility. “They used cloth to douse the fire at some places. Around 2 pm, around 50 people tried to douse the fire. Though the fire did not come towards Tirumala, it was stopped 1 km away from Ghat Road,” he said. said.
