Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday congratulated Kona Srikar Bharath for making his Test debut.

The wicket-keeper batsman made his debut against Australia in the first Test match starting on Thursday in Nagpur.

“Our own corner India is making her debut with the Indian cricket team in the ongoing Test against Australia today. My congratulations and best wishes,” reads a tweet from the official handle of the chief minister.

It is paired with the Telugu Pride hashtag, “The Telugu flag continues to fly high.”

Former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also congratulated Bharath on making his Test debut. “Glad to know that our very own corner India will be making his debut in the 1st Cricket Test against Australia today. I wish them all the best and look forward to seeing them make our country proud,” Naidu wrote.

Bharath, who hails from Visakhapatnam, was preferred over Ishan Kishan for the first Test of the four-match Border Gavaskar series.
