Andhra Pradesh CM asks officials to ensure CBSE affiliation to all government schools by 2024

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the state authorities to take measures to achieve this Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE.)) Affiliation for all government schools by 2024.

The Chief Minister also said that every school should have proper infrastructure, playgrounds and officials should be able to map schools without playgrounds, acquire necessary land and allot playgrounds to those schools and in the coming days. Directed to ensure this in all pre-high schools.

During a review meeting with the Education Department held at the Camp Office on Monday, the Chief Minister inquired about the current situation in schools after the pandemic, measures to prevent corona in schools and the presence of students. Officials told them that there is no significant impact of COVID-19 in schools due to preventive measures taken by the government and added that all teachers are getting vaccinated and attending physical classes.

He said the attendance of students was 73 per cent in August, while it was 82 per cent in September and 85 per cent in October. The official also claimed that at present 91 per cent students are in offline classes.

He said that the attendance criterion was relaxed due to the COVID-19 situation and directed the officials to link the attendance in the Amma Vodi scheme from 2022. Reddy said that the main objective of the Amma Vodi scheme is to increase the enrollment of students in schools. That there is a condition that the attendance of the children should be at least 75 percent to be eligible for the scheme. Reddy said that the financial assistance under the Amma Vodi scheme should be given at the beginning of the academic year keeping in view the attendance of the students.

The CM directed the officials to take steps to place work orders by December for the purchase of items under Jagannath Vidya Kanuka and ensure distribution of Vidya Kanuka kits to the students every year before the reopening of schools. He also inspected the quality of sports wear, footwear and suggested some changes during the meeting.

Reddy asked the officials to prepare an action plan to make available one lakh for maintenance works in each school. The officials proposed that they would like to give a ranking on the performance of the schools through social audit and the CM directed them to speak to the teachers in this regard. Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh, Principal Secretary School Education Buditi Rajasekhar and other officials were also present in the meeting.
