Andboss Takes It All – MIT grad Ishaan Chugh reveals what it’s like to win the top spot of poker!

The past few months have been captivating for Indian sports fans with one-on-one cricket action. The most interesting thing is how Indians are turning to different categories of sports. One of the rising stars in that segment is the mind sports of poker. It has a wide following in Western countries including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Spain and France. poker is growing fast India And the last few years have seen an exponential growth. Given the growing popularity of the game, poker tournaments have become a regular offering on various poker platforms. However, there is one tournament that generates tremendous buzz among online gamers.

Doing true justice to its name, EndBoss is India’s biggest poker tournament ever and offers a staggering prize money of 5 crores. Introduced in the year 2020, the first edition of AndBoss saw Abhishek Maheshwari from Pune winning the title.

The much-awaited 2021 edition of the tournament began on October 20. Delhi-based MIT graduate Ishaan Chugh, 31, emerged victorious over 4,816 entries.

While the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) alumnus playing poker since 2008, Ishaan feels special about this win which also fetched him prize money of 70 lakhs.

“₹70-lakh is not a small amount. So, I’m thrilled!” said Chugh, excited about his competition-breaking victory. So, if you’re wondering, ‘What were the odds?’, Chugh offers some insight. He attributes his success to his strategy. Talking about his origin story in an interview with poker commentator Aditya Wadhwani, Chugh shared that his brother introduced him to poker in 2008. He says he “started playing for fun” before moving on to the challenge of playing online for real money and playing with other friends at MIT.

He revealed how his experience playing in different circles gave him an insight into how other people play and how small decision calls can add up to a whole game. Endboss saw over 4800 entries in five qualifying rounds, but only 600 players made the cut and continued on to the final, also known as Day 2.

Currently estimated at ₹400-crore, the online poker industry is only set to skyrocket in the next five years. As per KPMG estimates, the Indian online gaming enterprise is projected to grow at a CAGR of 22%, achieving ₹11,880 crore by 2023, making it an attractive front runner in the race for top new sources of revenue.

The EndBoss tournament is hosted by PokerBaazi.com, an indigenous platform that leads the Indian poker industry today.
