Telugu film actress and television presenter Anasuya Bharadwaj has reacted to senior Tollywood actor Kota Srinivasa Rao’s recent comment on dressing up. The anchor of popular Telugu comedy show Jabardasth reacted saying ‘what one wears is completely personal’.
In response to Kota’s comments on his dressing style, Anasuya shared a note on his Twitter handle expressing his displeasure against the comments without mentioning the actor’s name.
In the note, she wrote, “I came to know about some of the comments made by the senior artist. It overwhelms me that my choice of how to dress is a matter of concern to such an extent. It’s sad that someone from that experience commented so little. One should know that what one wears is completely personal….It can also be a professional choice….But still, it is up to oneself.”
Further attacking the veteran actor, Anasuya wrote, “If there was social media earlier, would they have questioned why the senior actor glorified drinking alcohol or wearing shabby clothes or misbehaving or shaming women on screen? did? !! Wonder.”
Anasuya further questioned in the post that why wouldn’t anyone question all those film stars who are married, have kids and still have actresses romancing on screen and showing off their shirtless physique?
Further questioning patriarchal norms, she wrote, “If a married woman and mother of two children like me is still working, trying to be successful in her profession, that calls into question patriarchal norms, What’s scaring you… then you should work on dealing with yourself instead of publicly forming opinions.”
He later ended the post by writing, “If necessary make an impact in the right way.”
In a recent exclusive interview with popular journalist Jaffer, senior Tollywood actor Kota Srinivasa Rao made derogatory remarks against anchor and actor Anasuya Bharadwaj in the comedy show Jabardasth.
During the interview, Kota was also asked to share his views on the current trend of comedy in television shows. In response, he called the current comedy trend a circus.
Commenting on the comedy trend, Kota said, “It is not considered a comedy. Many people can watch it but it will not last long.
Commenting on Jabardast, he commented on anchor Anasuya’s dressing, though he praised her. Kota said, “She is a talented actress. She is beautiful and looks beautiful but personally, I do not like the way she dresses in TV shows. Also, I like her as an actress. I do.” Kota also said that he likes actor-guru Roja’s dressing sense.
