Anand Mahindra To Gift Sarfaraz Khan’s Father A THAR

Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, has extended a generous offer to Sarfaraz Khan’s father, Naushad, in recognition of his remarkable role as an inspirational father. Naushad’s significant support throughout Sarfaraz’s cricket journey spanning approximately 15 years has not gone unnoticed. As Sarfaraz, at 26 years old, achieves his long-awaited dream of earning an India Test cap, this gesture from Anand Mahindra towards the 52-year-old father adds an extra layer of joy to the occasion.

“Hard work. Courage. Patience. What better qualities than those for a father to inspire in a child? For being an inspirational parent, it would be my privilege & honour if Naushad Khan would accept the gift of a Thar,” the chairman wrote on X.

Sarfaraz’s moment receiving his Test cap from Anil Kumble wasn’t just his own; it was a huge victory for his family, especially his father, who couldn’t hold back tears seeing his son become an Indian cricketer. After years of hard work, dedication in the Ranji Trophy, and a long wait, their dream finally came true. Sarfaraz added to the joy with an outstanding half-century on debut, making the moment even sweeter for the father-son duo.

Sarfaraz stepped onto the pitch after India lost their fourth wicket at 237, following Rohit Sharma’s dismissal after a partnership of 204 runs with Ravindra Jadeja. Demonstrating remarkable composure, Sarfaraz started batting aggressively and quickly shifted into high gear. It took him 48 deliveries to reach his half-century, matching the joint second-fastest fifty on debut by an Indian, alongside Hardik Pandya. Sarfaraz’s innings featured nine boundaries and a six as he partnered with Jadeja to add 77 runs before an unfortunate run-out ended his innings abruptly. Initially expected to bat at No. 5, Sarfaraz had to delay his entry as Jadeja was promoted ahead of him.
