ANALYSIS: Marjorie Taylor Greene wants everyone to just end January 6 – The Henry Club

Oh well, because it’s only happened once. ,

Let’s look at some facts, shall we?

Fact #1, five people died that day.
Fact #2: more than 100 police officers injured by rioters.
Fact #3: More than 750 people from 48 states have been charged for their role in the riots, According to a database maintained by USA Today,
Fact #4: This was the first time the capitol was violated British did it in 1814 As part of the War of 1812.

Fact #5: The rioters entered construction with the express goal of preventing the certification of the 2020 election, which was won by Joe Biden and lost by Donald Trump.

In short, it was a holocaust aimed directly at our democracy. It was a violent rebellion urged by the then President of the United States of America as he was unhappy that he could not win the election.

Green is far from the first Republican to attempt to whitewash what happened that day.

Last May, Georgia Republican Representative Andrew Clyde Said this about the riots,

“Watching TV footage of those entering the Capitol and walking through the Statue Hall showed people taking videos and pictures in an orderly manner between poles and ropes. You know, if you didn’t know about that TV, the footage was a video from January 6th, you’d really think it was a typical tourist trip. ,

And, just a month after the riots, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson Insisted That “it didn’t look like an armed rebellion to me.”
(with respect to that claim, PolitiFact wrote this: “We can still identify accounts of many weapons found in and around the Capitol, in some cases brought by people who saw themselves as soldiers in battle.”)

point: Green – and the likes of Clyde and Johnson – would do well to remember the adage: “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
