Hardline Sikh organizations have called for a bandh in Amritsar on June 6, on the 38th anniversary of Operation Blue Star. Organizations have started a campaign to garner support for June 6. Sikh organizations have also announced to take out independence march on 5. On the other hand, in the midst of all this, the police has geared up to maintain peace and order.

In Punjab and neighboring states, many activities related to ‘Khalistan Movement’ have been seen in the recent times. The atmosphere in Punjab is worrying after the clash between two communities in Patiala. In such a situation, the police administration does not want to relax on the occasion of the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. In order to maintain law and order, flag marches are being taken out in addition to checking at many places. CCTV cameras have been installed on all major routes to keep an eye on the extremists.

Preparation for Independence March on 5th June

According to Dal Khalsa spokesperson, preparations are on to take out ‘Freedom March’ in Amritsar city on June 5. The next day, i.e. on June 6, Amritsar Bandh is being called for cooperation from the people. For this, there is also a plan to distribute more than 20 thousand pamphlets. The bandh has been called for business, banks, petrol pumps and educational institutions. Roads or traffic will not be blocked.

Police ready

Amritsar Police Commissioner Arunpal Singh says that the police administration is more alert after the incident in Patiala recently. Every year, preparations are made in advance for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. We are making the necessary preparations a little early this year to maintain law and order. Flag marches are being taken out in the city. Adequate police and paramilitary forces may be deployed to deal with any situation ahead of the anniversary of Operation Blue Star.
