Amitabh Bachchan offers an apology to Prabhas’ fandom ahead of the release of their film, Kalki 2898 AD.

Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan apologised to Prabhas’ fans ahead of Kalki 2898 AD’s release. The superstar, seated with Prabhas for a chat about the film, offered to apologise in advance for his character is set to have an epic clash with the Telugu superstar in the film. For the unversed, Amitabh plays the role of Ashwatthama who will lock horns with Prabhas’ Bhairava.

In a new video released by Vyjayanthi Network, Kalki 2898 AD producers Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt, along with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan opened up about the Nag Ashwin directorial. Big B recalled the first time the director approached him for the role in the film and in the process, apologised to Prabhas’ fans.

“When Nagi came to talk to me about this, he just brought a picture, a visual of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who’s shoving off ‘THE’ Prabhas. And al the fans of Prabhas, please, you know, please excuse me. Main haath jod ke maafi maang rahe hai, don’t massacre me after you see what I do,” Amitabh said.

Prabhas jumped in to assure him that his fans love him too. “They are all your fans too,” he said. Amitabh continued, “That was so impressive. I said, ‘He’s already got a vision in mind, he’s got a picture of what he’s going to look like. Very rarely do you see that.’”

At a recent press conference held in Mumbai, Amitabh confessed he was taken aback with the concept of Kalki 2898 AD. “When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for the long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’” Amitabh said, leaving Rana and his other co-stars in splits.

Amitabh continued, “To see something like this which is absolutely outrageous, some of the visuals that you have seen are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project which is so futuristic and possible… and during the making of the film you realise that no matter what he thought of he actually brought all the material, all the effects, every kind of vision that he had to the screen and that’s been really amazing. For me to be just a part of it, has been an experience I’ll never forget.”

Kalki 2898 AD is set to release on June 27, 2024.
