Amit Shah is expected to hold more than 12 rallies in West Bengal ahead of 2024 general elections, say sources

During his two-day visit to West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Siuri town in Vibhum district on April 14 for a public meeting. Bharatiya Janata Party insiders say Shah’s visit to the state will focus on the panchayat elections. These are going to happen this year, which is being seen as a bugle for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Sources say that Amit Shah is expected to hold more than 12 rallies in West Bengal ahead of the general elections.

The senior BJP leader’s first rally is in Birbhum at a time when Trinamool Congress stalwart district chief Anubrata Mandal is behind bars. BJP is seeing this as a good opportunity to spread its influence here.

“We are very excited that Amit Shah ji will come just before the Bengali New Year. Birbhum is very important as far as the politics of Bengal is concerned. So it is very important for us to have Shah here,” a party leader told News18.

Panchayat elections are likely to be held in May and both the parties are preparing to enter the fray.

TMC’s Jai Prakash Majumdar said, “Let him (Shah) come. The more he tours, the less his votes get.”

The BJP is focusing on the booth empowerment (strengthening) program and has also planned a special campaign for farmers.

Sources say that during his visit, Shah will also highlight the violence in West Bengal around Ram Navami.
