Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is face to face with the Chief Minister.

Amid reports of factionalism in the Punjab Congress, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday met party President Sonia Gandhi at her residence.

The meeting assumes significance as the party high command is trying to plug internal rifts in the Punjab unit of the Congress and talks are on for its reforms, with assembly elections just a few months away.

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu was in a face-off with the chief minister over issues such as the alleged delay in completing investigations into the sacrilege of Sikh scriptures in 2015 and the subsequent police firing on protesters.

Earlier, the cricketer-turned-politician had met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
