Amid Modi’s US Visit, GE Inks Pact With HAL To Produce Jet Engines for Air Force

GE announced in a press release years ago that the F414 engine they are manufacturing will be used in the IAF’s new and long-awaited Tejas LCA Mk2; A heavier, more technologically advanced version of the Tejas Mk1, which the Indian Air Force already operates.

The advanced jet is capable of flying for twice the duration of the older model and can carry up to six tonnes of weapons. It also comes with several other enhancements, including an advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suite and an Infrared Search and Track (IRST) sensor.

From GE Aerospace, as per their recent press release, this deal fully enables them to manufacture a complete family of products in India. They will also reportedly continue to collaborate with HAL on their Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.
