Ameesha Patel previously claimed she and Sunny Deol ghost-directed Gadar 2 to save it from Anil Sharma’s ‘hidden Agenda’.

Gadar 2 brought back Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel with their iconic roles, Tara Singh and Sakeena.

Ameesha Patel has revealed that she had creative differences with director Anil Sharma when they were shooting for Gadar 2. In a recent interview, the actress, who played the role of Sakina in the film, shared that she would not talk to Sharma during the Gadar 2 shoot. She mentioned that even though their way of working was different, she has “utmost respect for him” and that it hasn’t impacted their relationship.

“Even on the sets of Gadar, there were schedules that went on for 30-40 days for most of which I would not be talking to him [Anil Sharma] and he would not know how to convey something to me [directly]. It would only be conveyed through assistant directors. We’ve had our creative differences and that track record has carried on. We fight, we patch up,” Ameesha Patel told Hindustan Times.

“Anil Sharma and I are fine. If tomorrow he offers me any film, why only Gadar 3, I will be open to working with him,” the actress added.

Ameesha further opened up on “ghost-directing” Gadar 2 when she said, “I wouldn’t claim to have ghost-directed the entire film, but we corrected crucial parts. Portions were ghost-directed, [including] many important parts that were key factors to making Gadar a soulful experience for the audience.”

Gadar 2 brought back Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel with their iconic roles, Tara Singh and Sakeena. The film was released in August 2023. Even after the film’s release, Sharma and Patel made several statements against one another. During one of the interviews, the director took a dig at Patel and went on to say that even though she wasn’t a very good actress, he finalised her for the role of Sakeena since she had a ‘built-in personality of someone from an important family’.

“Ameesha had the built-in personality of someone from an important family. I knew we would have to train her, and she agreed to undergo training for six months. She’d come to me for four or five hours, and somehow, I ingrained Sakeena’s personality in her, to the point that she is still inseparable from that character,” he said.
