Ambergris worth Rs 2.2 crore seized; 4 held | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police have arrested four persons who were trying to sell ambergris worth Rs 2.2 crore.
Members of the inter-state racket were caught while trying to sell ambergris at a secluded place near jappinamogaru in Kankanady town police station limits on Saturday. The arrested accused are Jabir MA, 35, a resident of Bhagamandala in Kodagu, Asir VP, 36, a resident of Padannakkad near Kanhangad in Kerala, Shareef N, 32, from Kanhangad and Shabad LK, 27, of Karike village of Bhagamandala. The police have seized five mobile phones, a car and Rs 1,070 from the accused. The total value of seizures is nearly Rs 2.3 crore.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said a team led by ACP South Division Dinakar Shetty succeeded in arresting the accused. It may be recalled that the city police had arrested six persons from Balepuni village in Bantwal taluk, while they were trying to sell nearly 3.5 kg of ambergris worth Rs 3.5 crore a week ago.
