BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Priyanka Gandhi was celebrating her birthday with her husband Robert Vadra when the incident happened in Alwar.

“A BJP MP along with a team of senior workers had gone to discuss the matter with Priyanka Vadra. But our team was sent back saying that Priyanka Vadra is busy celebrating her birthday and cannot meet anyone.

“The team had gone to him seeking a report from the Chief Minister of Rajasthan as to why such incidents are happening in the state,” he said.

The BJP leader said that both Priyanka Gandhi and her brother Rahul Gandhi visit states where Congress is not in power, whenever such incidents happen and take photographs.

“Did you (Priyanka Gandhi) meet the victim? Did you go to the victim’s house? Had he sought a report from Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in this regard? Accusing the Congress of playing politics on this serious issue, Patra said that the country will never forgive him for such acts.

The BJP leader also used the occasion to comment on Rajasthan Women and Child Development Minister Mamta Bhupesh’s remarks that the state government alone cannot stop such incidents and for “mixing Tilak with rape”. .

Patra accused the Rajasthan government of running away from responsibility and said that both the Women and Child Development Minister and Chief Minister Gehlot should apologize for this.

Bhupesh had earlier said that collective resolve is needed in the society to stop such incidents.

In yet another case of Nirbhaya-like brutality, a 16-year-old girl was gang-raped in Rajasthan’s Alwar district.

The mentally challenged girl was found with injuries on her private parts in a distressed state in Alwar early Tuesday.

The minor, lying in a pool of blood on the road near Tijara gate at around 9 pm on Tuesday night, is undergoing treatment at JK Lone Hospital in Jaipur, where he was to undergo surgery on Wednesday.

No arrest has been made so far in connection with this untoward incident.
