Many parts of the country are receiving ample rainfall, which has led to a flood-like situation in a few places. As per the weather department, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in coastal districts and southern interior parts. In Karnataka, heavy rain is expected for the next five days, which has prompted the officials to issue another rain alert. Due to the increased rainfall in the area, various dams are filling up rapidly.

The Tungabhadra reservoir, as of August 29, is just 4 feet away from being full. Currently, 29,014 cusecs of water are flowing into the reservoir; it is currently holding 90.384 TMC of water. The dam has a total capacity of 105.788 TMC and needs 15 TMC of water. After closing the 19th gate of the dam, 19 TMC of water has been stored in the reservoir.

Here are a few updates about the other dams in Karnataka:

Krishna Raja Sagara Dam (KRS Dam) located at Mandya in Karnataka has a total capacity of 49.45 TMC. The current water level is at 48.34 TMC. Its current inflow is 7,250 cusecs and outflow is 4,214 cusecs.

Kabini Dam is located at Beechanahalli. It can hold 19.52 TMC of water and its current water level is at 18.85 TMC. The current inflow of water in the dam is 4,919 cusecs while the outflow is 3,350 cusecs.

Almatti Dam is also called the Lal Bahadur Shastri Dam. It is a hydroelectric project on the Krishna River in North Karnataka. It has a total capacity of 123.08 TMC. Its current water level is 118.05 TMC. The current inflow is 1.58,383 cusecs and the outflow is 1,72,932 cusecs.

Bhadra Dam in Vadiyuru has a maximum capacity of 71.54 TMC and its currency water level is 66.18 TMC. As per reports, the current inflow is 10,933 cusecs and the outflow is 3,942 cusecs.

Ghataprabha Reservoir is located in the Belagavi district of the state and has a total capacity of 51 TMC. The water level is at 50.34. The current inflow of water in the reservoir is 24,181 cusecs and the outflow is 25,796 cusecs.

Malaprabha Dam’s current inflow of water is 18,029 causes and the outflow is 16,444 cusecs. It can hold up to 37.73 TMC and at present, the water level is at 36.06 TMC.

Hemavathi Dam’s total capacity is 37.10 TMC. The current water level is 37.06 TMC. The inflow of water is 13,771 cusecs and the outflow is 13,700 cusecs.
