Virat Kohli has now won all three senior ICC titles including ODI World Cup, Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli announced his T20I retirement moments after playing a starring role in India’s world cup triumph in Barbados last week. He thus drew curtains on a stellar career that saw him accumulate 4188 runs across 125 matches at an average of 48.69 and a strike-rate of 137.04.

Kohli struggled to get runs during the major part of the 2024 T20 World Cup that was held across USA and the Caribbean islands. However, he stepped up in the title clash with a measured 59-ball 76, an innings that was built under pressure after his team was rocked in the Powerplay by the South African bowlers.

That innings helped India to 176/7 which proved enough for them to clinch a second ever T20 World title. Apart from Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma revealed during a media interaction that he has played the final T20I of his career too.

The contest was also the last for India head coach Rahul Dravid who had already announced that he will step away from the role once the world cup ends.

The BCCI will soon announce Dravid’s successor with two-time world cup winner Gautam Gambhir widely tipped to takeover as the next head coach.

Meanwhile, Dravid had a message for Kohli as the team celebrated the triumph in their dressing room at the Kensington Oval on Saturday.

Kohli has now won all three major ICC titles at the senior level. This includes the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy and 2024 T20 World Cup.

One ICC title missing from Kohli’s trophy cabinet is the World Test Championship which he came close to winning twice in the past. India lost to New Zealand (2021) and Australia (2023) in the finals of the championship.

Dravid now wants Kohli to complete the set.

“All three white ticked, one red to go. Tick it!,” Dravid can be seen telling Kohli in the short clip.

Kohli is the first player in history to complete the quadruple of ICC titles. He first shot to prominence after captaining India to title win at the U19 ODI World Cup in 2008.
