All Out Operation: Ahead of New Year’s Eve, the Mumbai Police launched an “all out operation” in the city and arrested at least 29 accused who were wanted in various cases. According to an official, all senior officers of the city police were present at the ground for the drive, which was conducted between 11 pm and 3 am on Thursday and Friday.
1,471 people with criminal antecedents were screened and action was taken against 271 of them by conducting combing operations at 223 locations.
According to reports, the police has arrested 131 people in various cases by serving non-bailable warrants against them.
Police checked vehicles at many places
Checking was also done at 178 places across the city, during which 8,690 two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles were checked and action was taken against 2,300 vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Act.
During the drive, 60 people were penalized for drunken driving in the city, the official said. He said that as a precautionary measure, the police checked 555 sensitive places in the city.
