Greater Noida: In compliance with an order of the NGT, Greater Noida The authority has drawn up a detailed plan to connect the sewer lines of all 122 villages under its jurisdiction with Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in a phased manner. While some villages already have sewer lines, many are not yet connected to STPs.
In a meeting with all stakeholders on Monday, right Officials said that already 35 villages have sewer connections. And by August 31, 17 and by March 31 next year, 35 more villages would be connected with sewer lines. Eventually all the lines will be connected to STP. Here, the authority officials are planning the decentralization of STP and IIT-I to prepare the detailed project report. Roorkee is included.
Taking cognizance of a complaint about “large-scale pollution due to sewage and waste water” in 93 villages, the NGT in January this year ordered the formation of a joint panel of CPCB, UPPCB, Greater Noida Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar DM and others.
