Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that at least six Assam Police personnel were martyred on Monday in a border dispute with Mizoram.
Sarma, who also holds the portfolio of the Home Department, said in a tweet: “I am deeply saddened to inform that six brave jawans of Assam Police have sacrificed their lives protecting the constitutional boundary of our state along the Assam-Mizoram border. Have sacrificed their lives. My heartfelt condolences. To the bereaved families.”
