Members of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had also urged the DM to deny permission for the proposed gathering of saints. In a letter to the district administration, AIMIM President Gufran Noor said that communal harmony was disrupted after hate speech in Haridwar recently. Organizer of Dharma Sansad and Trustee of Sanatan Hindu Seva Sansthan Annapurna Bharti said the event has been postponed “by us” for fear of Omicron “and that two of our keynote speakers, who are also members of the core committee of the Parliament of Religions in Haridwar, are in judicial custody for their Haridwar speeches”. “We will hold a meeting on January 23 to decide the future date.
