Karan Johar said that he knew Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor would make for a couple that would last a lifetime.
uibn8 Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, the leads of the upcoming film Jigra, are set to kick off season two of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, and they’re bringing some big names along! Joining them will be producer Karan Johar and director Vasan Bala. In the episode, Alia spills the tea about her marriage to Ranbir Kapoor, revealing that Karan Johar is the matchmaker who brought them together.
Kapil Sharma, never missing a chance, pokes fun at Karan for his matchmaking skills in the industry. Kapil said, “Some people believe you run a marriage bureau in the industry.” Karan laughed it off and said, “I’ve helped many people find love, and they’re even married today. But I’m still single!”
Alia Bhatt said that Karan has a knack for relationships and just knows when it’s supposed to work out. “Karan has a sixth sense when it comes to relationships. He predicted that Ranbir and I would make a great couple when we first became friends. He told me, ‘Alia, I think this is it’.” To this, Karan went on to add, “I knew it! I knew their friendship would blossom into something special, and it would last a lifetime.”
Alia Bhatt has been crushing on Ranbir Kapoor since she was nine years old, way back when he was working behind the scenes on Black in 2005. Fast forward to 2017, and fate brought them together again while filming Brahmastra in the snowy mountains of Bulgaria and the sparks flew!
The duo made their official couple debut at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception in 2018, sending fans into a total frenzy. Ranbir later confirmed their romance during an interview with a magazine, gushing over Alia’s charm and teasing that their relationship was still “cooking.” With their families’ blessings and Alia standing strong by Ranbir’s side through tough times like Rishi Kapoor’s passing, their love story was straight out of a Bollywood fairytale. Finally, the tale ended with a dreamy wedding in April 2022 at their residence in Mumbai. They have a daughter named Raha Kapoor.
