bollywood actress Alia Bhatt announced on Monday that she and her actor-husband Ranbir Kapoor are expecting their first child together. The news comes almost three months after 29-year-old Alia and 39-year-old Ranbir tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai.
Alia took to Instagram to share the news as she posted a picture with Ranbir from an ultrasound session at a hospital. “Our baby… coming soon,” the actress captioned the photo. Soon after their announcement, many speculated whether Alia was pregnant before their wedding. Some of the comments on his post read: “Isn’t it too early?”; “Very early”; “that was quick”. A section of the internet also wondered whether it was a promotional gimmick for his upcoming film Brahmastra.
However, an industry insider who is close to both Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has revealed that this is something the pair had planned and prepared for.
“Ranbir and Alia had decided to get married almost three years back. However, their wedding plans had to go ahead twice at first. They had already waited long enough to become one,” the source told BollywoodLife.com. Their plans had to go ahead once due to the pandemic and the second time due to the deteriorating health and eventual death of Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor due to cancer.
The source further added, “Ranbir always wanted to get married and start his own family immediately. Therefore it is no surprise. He had planned it this way and also his upcoming projects to ensure that Alia’s work commitment doesn’t get affected due to her pregnancy. ,
Interestingly, Ranbir and Alia’s pregnancies are very similar to Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s first pregnancies. Rishi and Neetu were married in January 1980 and their first child, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, was born in September 1980.
