Ali Abbas Zafar to direct Hindi remake of Jason Statham-starrer ‘The Transporter’: Report

Ali Abbas Zafar, who has blockbusters like Tiger Zinda Hai and Bharat, is all set to direct and produce the Hindi remake of Hollywood action star Jason Statham’s classic film The Transporter.

According to the report of ETimes, Ali is very excited about this project. He had apparently been considering buying the rights to the film for a long time and it officially happened about eight weeks ago.

The report further claims that Vishal Rana will be joining Ali as a producer and a big production house is also expected to come on board. As far as the main protagonist is concerned, a source says, “Ali is clear that he wants a young action star. It is not yet decided who will replace Statham, but a decision will be taken soon in this regard. .

Meanwhile, The Transporter is a 2002 English-language French action-thriller directed by Cory Yuen and Louis Leterrier, who are credited as artistic directors on the film. In addition to Jason, the film stars Xu Qi, Francois Berland, Matt Schultz and Rick Young. In the film, Jason plays Frank Martin, a driver for hire—a hired “transporter” who will do anything, anywhere, no questions asked—for the right price. The film was followed by three sequels, Transporter 2 and Transporter 3, The Transporter Refueled (a reboot), and a television series.

Ali is currently busy with the pre-production of his upcoming action-thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The upcoming film is apparently a follow-up Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda’s 1998 hit ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, which was directed by David Dhawan. The announcement about the film was made in February and the film is expected to hit the screens on Christmas 2023.
