Alex Hales shares fitness update after groin injury, thanks well-wishers

England cricketer Alex Hales has shared that he is in pain but happy to learn of his wishes after being hit in the box twice in a row while batting at The Hundred.

This happened recently during the match between The Oval Invisibles and the Trent Rockets. Hales was in great pain after dealing the blow for the first time and unfortunately, the same sequence was repeated after the next delivery.

Now Hales has expressed his gratitude, thanking his well-wishers for showing sympathy for his condition. He mentioned that he was grateful that no one found the episode funny.

The 32-year-old wrote on Twitter, “Appreciate all the messages of concern after last night. It’s great to know that my well-being was at the top of everyone’s thoughts and that no one found it funny in the slightest! Unfortunately Today it is the worst case scenario with minimal swelling and maximum pain.”

Trent Rockets were chasing a competitive total of 126 runs. Hales, who opened the innings for his side, had a tough time as he suffered a double blow in the lower abdomen. The flamboyant opener started and tried to move on. Although Hales played some brilliant shots, some strikes in the groin area made it difficult for the batsman at the crease.

On the 13th ball, Hales tried to swing the ball over square leg from opposition left-arm fast bowler Reece Topley. Unfortunately, Hales missed and the ball went straight into his groin area. He fell to the ground in pain and screaming.

The physio rushed to the ground to see him before Hales could gather himself for the next delivery.

As luck would have it, the batsman was smashed at the same spot after getting an under-edge.

The batsman went to the ground again, leaving this opportunity to quickly get to his feet. The Trent Rockets lost the match by nine runs but Hales’ fighting spirit was widely praised. Hales scored 25 runs in 15 balls, which included three fours and a six, before being dismissed.
