Alec Baldwin film shooting not ruling out criminal charges – report

The local district attorney said Tuesday that criminal charges in a fatal accidental shooting by actor Alec Baldwin on the set of a Western film have not been ruled out.

Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altweiss also said in an interview with the New York Times that it was wrong to refer to the firearm used in the incident as a “prop gun”, as has been done in media reports.

“It was a legitimate gun,” Carmack-Altweiss told the newspaper. “It was a fitting gun of an ancient era.”

The prosecutor said a “large amount of bullets” had been found on the set and that the nature of the ammunition needed to be investigated.
