Mumbai: Bhumi Pednekar is celebrating her birthday today. Breaking stereotypes, the ‘Bala’ actress started her career by playing the role of an overweight bride in the 2015 film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. Since then, the actress has featured in several films including ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’, ‘Sonchiriya’, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ and others.
As the actress turned a year older today, celebrities including Ayushmann Khurrana, Anushka Sharma, Ananya Panday showered love for the ‘Durgmati’ actress on her special day.
Bhumi’s co-star in the upcoming film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ also wished the actress on her birthday. Akshay Kumar shared a quirky picture with Bhumi Pednekar where he can be seen trying to make her laugh. The ‘Bachchan Pandey’ actor’s caption for the post read, “Trying my best to make the birthday girl smile. She has clearly realized she turns a year old today, don’t worry Bhumi, hopefully That you are getting wiser too, happy birthday @bhumipednekar”.
Replying to this post, Bhumi Pednekar commented, ‘Sir you are pure.
Before starting her career as a leading actress, Bhumi worked as an assistant casting director with Yash Raj Films for 6 years under Shanu Sharma.
Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in the film ‘Durgmati’ where she played the lead role of IAS Chanchal Singh Chauhan. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video and received mixed reviews from critics.
‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’ will next be seen in ‘Badhaai Do’ with Rajkummar Rao. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Badhaai Ho which starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri in pivotal roles. Bhumi will also be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in the comedy-drama film ‘Raksha Bandhan’ directed by Aanand L Rai.
On the other hand, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Prithviraj’ and ‘Raksha Bandhan’.
