The shooting of Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming project Selfie has started from today. Karan Johar has shared the news of the commencement of shooting on his Instagram story. Karan posted a picture of the clapboard with the title of the film written on it. Sharing the photo, Karan wrote the caption, ‘Selfie day is 1! The team needs all your blessings for this crazy adventure ahead!”
The film is being produced by Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions. Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi are coming together for the first time to entertain the audience for the comedy-drama.
Earlier, Karan shared a teaser announcing his new film. In the video, we can see Akshay and Emraan dancing to the melodious tunes. Even before the shooting of the film started, Karan shared its first look with the audience. Taking to her Instagram, she wrote, “Submitting a #selfie starring two absolutely smashing actors – Akshay Kumar & Emraan Hashmi and directed by Raj Mehta. Come to the frame and pose as the shoots begin soon!” According to media reports, the shooting of the film with Akshay, Emraan and Nusrat Bharucha has started in Bhopal.
Selfie is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam film titled Driving Licence. The original film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Sooraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. Going to the basic plot, Akshay will be seen playing the role of a superstar and Emraan will play the role of a motor vehicle inspector.
This is not the first time that director Raj Mehta and Akshay Kumar are coming together. Earlier, the pair had worked in the film Good Newwz. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles along with Akshay. Akshay and Nusrat have also worked together in Ram Setu. However, Akshay and Emraan will share the screen for the first time.
