Arbaaz, the driver of the white SUV used by the assailants to attack Umesh Pal on February 24, shot him in retaliation after police opened fire.

Addressing the Uttar Pradesh Assembly session, Yadav claimed that those criticizing him only show half the truth. Significantly, while sharing this picture on its Twitter handle, UP Congress had accused both BJP and SP of giving protection to criminals.

Responding to the same, Yadav said, “A picture can be clicked with anyone and only half-truths can be shown.” The attackers attacked him outside his house in Dhumanganj area of ​​Prayagraj on 24 February.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present in the assembly during Yadav’s speech.

The involvement of Samajwadi Party MP Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad is also being probed as a CCTV footage shows him as one of the four attackers involved in the crime. His name also figured among the suspects in Raju Pal’s murder and he is currently serving his sentence in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. He is also suspected to be involved in the February 24 murder.

On the complaint of Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal, a case has been registered against gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen, two sons, Guddu Muslim and Ghulam and nine others at Dhumanganj police station.

Significantly, Shaista is currently associated with the Bahujan Samaj Party. Though BSP chief Mayawati blamed the Samajwadi Party for “creating Atiq”, she has refused to act against her wife.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a jibe at the opposition Samajwadi Party and vowed to destroy mafias after the SP questioned the law and order situation in the state in the wake of the killing.
