Samajwadi Party announced the National Executive; Party sources say that Shivpal Yadav has been made the national general secretary. This comes a day after party president Akhilesh Yadav held a meeting at the party office.
Though the leader had said that the meeting was held to discuss the caste-based survey amid “the Bharatiya Janata Party’s remarks against people belonging to lower castes”, there was speculation that the development happened today and was also discussed during the meeting . on Saturday.
Significantly, the Samajwadi Party is making a strong demand for a caste-based survey in the state. Akhilesh had promised to conduct a caste survey in the state if the party was voted to power during the assembly elections last year.
