Akhilesh: ‘Seek data from home department’: Akhilesh questions PM’s claims on law and order India News – Times of India

Lucknow: National President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav questioned the Prime Minister on Tuesday Narendra ModiU.S. statement that crime in UP has come down and urged them to seek data from the state home department which would tell a different story.
The remarks came in response to a media query on the Prime Minister’s statement earlier that day, in which he had said that law and order has improved in Uttar Pradesh and before 2017 only mafia and gangsters ruled.
The Prime Minister was addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh.
“I haven’t heard what the Prime Minister has said. If you are quoting the PM correctly, I would urge him to take the data from the home department and ‘dial 100’ (police control room). This will give them the real picture,” he said during a function where leaders of various parties joined the SP.
He said that the Prime Minister can also see the report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and also find out which state of the country has been given maximum number of notices by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
“PM should ask the UP chief minister about the top 10 gangsters in the state. Everyone knows that the Chief Minister has withdrawn the cases against him.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Akhilesh said, “The establishment of a university is a welcome step, but the BJP should also start an institute to train people to lie and spread lies as they excel in it.”
Referring to the alleged demolition of some houses in AyodhyaHe said the BJP should choose ‘bulldozer’ as its election symbol.
Responding to CM Yogi Adityanath’s remark that opposition leaders lack foresight, Akhilesh advised them to “get their eyes checked to ascertain their vision”.
Earlier, Akhilesh took to Twitter to describe the BJP’s move to build a new university after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh as a ‘dhong’ (pretend).
“It is a pity that BJP is setting up a new university in the name of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, who was opposed to communalism and parochial politics and who had forfeited the deposits of BJP candidates. BJP government disrespected them by announcing Gurukul Vishwavidhyalaya Created by him as a fake university in Vrindavan,” tweeted Akhilesh.
He also accused the BJP of failing to respect its own leaders, referring to the foundation stone of a university after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Lucknow in 2019. “The university is not complete yet. The government made several announcements regarding the development of Vajpayee’s native village Bateshwar, Agra, but most of them have been abandoned,” he said.
