Akhilesh Meets Party Mla In Azamgarh Jail, Attacks Bjp | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav met senior party leader Ramakant Yadav at the district jail in Azamgarh on Monday. It was his first visit to Azamgarh after the party’s defeat in the Lok Sabha by-election in which he didn’t campaign.
Jailed Ramakant, an MLA from Phulpur Pawai assembly constituency in the district, is accused in a hooch tragedy.
After a 35-minute meeting with Ramakant in the jail, Akhilesh launched a scathing attack on the state government, saying that “the ruling BJP is deliberately levelling cases against those in the SP and opposition”. “The BJP is preparing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by imposing fake cases on the opposition leaders,” he alleged.
He said, “The BJP is levelling false allegations against the opposition. The administration is behind all the wrong actions of the BJP. The BJP government does not want to talk about poverty, inflation and unemployment. In order to deliberately divert the attention of the public and suppress the voice of the opposition leaders, they are being marked and sent to jail in false cases.”
“Not only in Azamgarh and Rampur, cases are being lodged against the opposition leaders in the entire state,” said Akhilesh.
He added, “The New York Times is writing that the education system in Delhi’s schools has improved, but the BJP is unable to accept it and lodging false cases. After SP membership drive is over, the party will be seen standing against the government by taking a big decision.”
Akhilesh said that 1.13 lakh youth have applied to become Agniveer. The government should tell how many will get jobs in this. About 1.10 lakh youth among them will return home.
He claimed that in 2024, Azamgarh seat will come back to SP with a huge majority with the support of the people. He also demanded that the BJP government should conduct a caste census.
