Akhil Akkineni’s Agent Producer Takes Blame For Film’s Poor Performance, ‘We Will Make It Up…’

Akhil Akkineni’s spy action thriller Agent released earlier this week but is yet to receive a great response from critics and audiences alike. The Surender Reddy directorial trolled the filmmaker as well as Akhil Akkineni himself, who spent two years on the film. Now the film’s producer Anil Sunkara has come forward to address the box office failure.

Anil Sunkara wrote on his Twitter handle, “We have to take the entire blame for #Agent on ourselves. Though we know it is a tough task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we made a big mistake to start the project without any binding script and follow innumerable issues including Covid. We don’t want to make excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can make sure we don’t repeat the mistakes again. We apologize to everyone who put their trust in us. We will make up for the loss with dedicated planning and hard work in our future projects.”

Earlier, Akhil Akkineni’s mother, Amala Akkineni showed her support by addressing the trolls on her social media timeline. He wrote,

“I understand that trolling comes from inner insecurities and a need for achievement. I saw Agent yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the film. Although it had its flaws, if you look with an open mind you will be amazed. I found it to be a solid piece of theater While 50% of the audience is women who are mothers and grandmothers with their husbands and sons. There was squealing when the big action happened. I am sure, their next one will be bigger and better.

Agent is directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Anil Sunkara. Surendra’s last directorial venture was the 2019 film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The film was successful at the box office and collected over Rs 240 crore which helped the director make a good mark in the industry.
