Ajay Mishra Holds ‘Official Meetings’ At MHA As Demand For His Sacked Rocks Parl, UP Vidhan Sabha

Demands to sack Union minister Ajay Kumar Mishra shook both the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and Parliament on Thursday as the opposition intensified its attack on the BJP government over the minister’s son’s involvement in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in Lok Sabha that “the minister who killed the farmers should resign and he should be punished”. “We should be allowed to speak about the murder in Lakhimpur Kheri, where the minister was involved and which it has been said was a conspiracy,” he said.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had earlier submitted before a court that the killing of four farmers and a journalist in Lakhimpur Kheri, in which Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra is among the 13 accused, was a “pre-planned conspiracy” and also The case demanded replacement of lesser charges with serious charges.

The court allowed the SIT to add the charge of attempt to murder to the FIR against the minister’s son Ashish Mishra and 12 others registered in the case, replacing it with lesser charges.

Meanwhile, amid the ruckus in the Parliamentary and Assembly sessions, Ajay Mishra is holding official meetings related to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). A day earlier, when he inquired about the violence of October 3, he attacked a reporter and called media thieves, for which his son is among the accused.

A video clip purportedly shows the minister getting angry when a reporter of a television news channel asked about these developments.
