Ajay Devgn on OTT Debut with Rudra: Nobody wants to see a good boy, controversies go on

Ajay Devgan has played a variety of characters in the last 30 years of his career. The silver screen star, who has developed a devoted fan following with his intense performances, is making his OTT debut with the crime-drama series Rudra: The Age of Darkness. As the title suggests, his role will be in gray and not black and white. “Rudra is a very well written, gritty and realistic show. This actually works for me too because the character is gray. Nobody wants to see the good guy while the controversies go on,” Ajay said during a virtual press conference organized by Disney+ Hotstar.

Rudra has been adapted from a British show and the actor says the essence of the original has been retained, which attracted him to the project. “I saw the original film long before the script came out. The scale and design have been retained, as it should have been. It’s not coercion, so there’s no chance of saying yes.”

Talking about venturing into the OTT space this time around, he said, “Today, the quality of entertainment delivered through digital platforms is remarkable and has opened avenues for filmmakers to experiment and scale up. . There has been a significant increase in the mass production of these projects over the years. Rudra – The Age of Darkness is greater than anything I’ve tried before. As an actor, I have always believed in reinventing myself with diverse roles to provide an engaging experience to the audience and, I am thrilled to embrace a new form of storytelling with Disney+ Hotstar. Am.”

Gaurav Banerjee, President and Head, Hindi and English Entertainment, Star India, said, “Ajay Devgan has this incredible quality that even when he is extremely angry, there is a certain emotion in his eyes that gives India a second chance. Is. I hope the same will happen with Rudra as a lot of objectionable things will be seen in him. I hope people understand why he is doing this.”
