Ajay Chautala completes jail term in JBT recruitment scam | Chandigarh News – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Former MP and national president of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) Ajay Chautala, who was a convict in the JBT teacher recruitment scam and was undergoing his sentence in Tihar Jail since 2013, has been formally released from Tihar jail on completion of his jail term.
Confirming the development, Ajay Chautala’s elder son Dushyant Chautalawho is also Deputy CM Haryanasaid that the entire family is happy over his father’s release, as the bad dream of nine years and 25 days has come to an end.
State president of JJP, Nishan Singh said that Ajay Chautala has completed his jail term as per the legal procedure and now his active participation in the state’s politics would strengthen the party in the state.
On January 22, 2013, a special CBI court Delhi had sentenced Ajay Chautala, his father and former Haryana chief minister OP Chautala for 10 years’ imprisonment for committing irregularities in the selection of these teachers. Court had also convicted 53 other persons including two IAS officers and other officials of education department Haryana.
The conviction of the accused in this case, however, was upheld by the Delhi high court as well as the Supreme Court. The sentence awarded to the officials of the education department, however, was reduced by the Delhi high court.
Earlier in June 2021, Ajay Chautala’s father and former Haryana CM, Om Prakash Chautala was released by the jail administration after granting some remissions in view of his old age.
