The ministry on Saturday issued a new order, modifying its August 12 order to say “72.5 per cent capacity may be read as 85 per cent capacity”.
Saturday’s order also said the 72.5 per cent limit would remain in place “till further orders”.
When the government resumed scheduled domestic flights on May 25 last year after a two-month break, the ministry did not allow carriers to operate more than 33 per cent of their pre-Covid domestic services.
The cap was gradually raised to 80 per cent till December.
The 80 per cent limit remained in place till June 1.
The May 28 decision to bring down the number from 80 to 50 per cent from June 1 was taken “in view of the sudden increase in the number of active COVID-19 cases across the country, reduction in passenger traffic and passenger load”. occupancy rate) factor”, the ministry had said.
