Despite the passenger having a valid ticket, Air India refused the passenger to travel on the flight. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of 10 lakh on passengers for not paying compensation even after having valid boarding passes.
With this, today DGCA has also issued a new condition for airlines. According to this, if a passenger is stopped to travel despite having a valid ticket, then the airline companies will have to arrange another flight or they will have to pay compensation to the passenger.
Now the passenger will have to pay compensation of up to 20 thousand rupees.
According to the DGCA, if airlines arrange another flight for a passenger with a valid ticket in 1 hour, then there will be no penalty. At the same time, the passenger will have to pay a compensation of up to 20,000 for not making arrangements for their travel in 24 hours. However, if within 24 hours the airlines arranges the passenger in another flight, then this compensation will be only 10,000 thousand rupees.
DGCA advises Air India to fix the problem
Regarding this matter, DGCA said that after the matter came to light, investigation was done. The DGCA has advised the airline to immediately put in place a system to rectify the problem so that such incidents do not come to the fore in the future. Failure to do so will result in DGCA taking further action.
Vistara was fined before Air India
Before Air India, on June 2, Vistara was fined Rs 10 lakh. The company was accused of breaking the rules of safety. The DGCA said that without the necessary training, Vistara Airlines used to give the clearance for take-off and landing to the officer. Because of this the company was fined.
