Air India & Vistara to fly each other’s passengers in case of flight disruptions – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Air India and Vistara will now accommodate each other’s domestic and international passengers if the flight of either airline is disrupted due to some reason.
Air India’s “interline considerations on irregular operations” (IROPs) agreement with Vistara comes exactly two weeks after it signed the same with AirAsia India (AAIPL) for domestic passengers, signaling increasing synergy between the Tata Group airlines. Both the pacts are valid for two years, within which the group will finalize the contours of its airline business.
AAIPL as of now does not fly international passenger flights, so the Maharaja’s IROPs with it was only for domestic flights. Vistara, however, has both domestic and international passenger flights.
“This arrangement will enable airport teams of both AI and Vistara to offer alternative first available flights so that inconvenience to passengers is minimized…. carriage of passengers shall be on an ‘as available’ basis as determined by the airport manager of accepting airline , it says.
The transferring airline’s baggage allowance as shown on the original ticket will apply for passengers accepted by the accepting airline.
Synergy and operations of scale of the four airlines in its group is going to be a major us for the Tata Group.
