Air India Resumes Delhi-Milan Direct Flight Services, Strengthens International Network

Tata Group-run carrier Air India on Thursday said it has resumed its non-stop flight services from New Delhi to Milan from February 1. These services were shut down in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The introduction of the Milan flight, along with Air India’s already announced flights from New Delhi to Vienna and Copenhagen, will significantly strengthen the airline’s footprint in Europe, the airline said in a statement. In late November, Air India said it would operate three flights per week from New Delhi to Vienna and Copenhagen from February 18 and March 1, 2023, respectively.

Recently, Air India signed a contract with Boeing and other businesses to supply over 495 aircraft and engine providers. This will help the airline company to expand its business and increase services on existing routes.

If the order is followed, Air India will be able to compete directly with other international carriers. The airline company is now working very hard to repair its damaged reputation as Tata now owns it. Additionally, Air India has started flying more than 15 aircraft which were earlier grounded due to paucity of funds and spares.

Earlier, Air India had said it would use UK-based Ideagen’s enterprise cloud software program Coruson to help improve safety management and ease in-flight problems in real-time.

The revelations by the Tata Group-run airline came in the wake of at least three instances of disorderly passenger behavior on two overseas flights last year, for which aviation regulator DGCA fined the carrier for certain reporting errors. According to an Air India release, the safety data software tool, Coruson, will be available online from May 1, 2023, and will enable real-time reporting of in-flight accidents.
